British Defense developed an activated charcoal cloth used in chemical suits & other devices to protect against nerve gas & highly toxic vapors used in chemical warfare. Activated charcoal is imbedded directly into the fabric. When formed, the charcoal is in every part of the structure. Ideal Seating has brought this technology into the workplace where everyday odors occur. Intensive use environments & long sit times can allow odors and stains to transfer into the seating fabrics. With the “24/7 Odor Shield”, these are absorbed into the activated charcoal. The word “absorb” is key here: when a material absorbs odors and stains, it attaches to them by chemical attraction. When odors & stains pass next to the carbon fabric, they attach to the surface and are trapped--not transferred into the air or onto the fabric underneath. This absorption keeps the chair’s fabric clean, extending its long-term wear. Our disposable shields will last 3-6 months or longer.
